Feeling lucky today!

Sometimes even though we're not running a race together, one of us sisters does something cool enough to warrant a post.  Today was one of those times and I was fortunate enough to be the one doing the really cool thing, Awesome actually.  Here's the cliff's notes version...

What doesnt kill you makes you....

I know what you're thinking... "stronger!", but that's not been the case for me recently. What hasn't killed me has just made me sore....and left me feeling my age!

A very important question

I'm sitting here enjoying the sweet taste of our Spartan victory this afternoon and finishing up this story I started last week.  So my very important question is this, "What's the worst that can happen?"  I usually ask myself this question when I am contemplating doing something crazy or when I'm trying to make important life decisions. I think this is why some people call me crazy, but I think I'm the sane one.  I take chances. I try new things.  And I generally never pass up a dare.   I've learned that you typically won't regret the things you do, it's the things you pass up out of fear or self doubt, that haunt you. So, this simple question serves as a catalyst for a lot of awesome things in my life.

Cold running

It isn't too often that a short training run at a pace that is slower than most people walk warrants a blog story, but today's run sure did!

Minnesota wild rice, uffda!

Whenever we go to Dominica's, I always request Salmon or other seafood because she takes requests and she's an amazing chef. Also, I have no idea how to cook fish so I totally take adavantage of the situation.  And wisely when I request fish, Dominica always makes her famous Minnesota Wild Rice on the side. It's the absolute perfect partner for seafood. Prior to this most recent trip, whenever I thought of Minnesota, I thought of wild rice!  It's still disputed by some, but many claim this Minnesota Wild Rice is the only true wild rice left in the world; Native Americans still plant it, care for it and harvest it in canoes on the northern lakes of Minnesota.  I guess, the wild rice stuff they sell at Walmart is actually #fakerice, Uffda! Oh yeah, we also learned, Uffda, in Minnesotan, is an expression of surprise and excitement similar to wow or rad. It's of Scandinavian origin and the spelling is inconsistent;  Minnesotans today seem to spell it Uffda while old scandinavians spelled it Oofda. Either way it means the same thing, WOW! And while Minnesota is just two states away, I learned MN has a lot of unique cultural items like hot dishes, and lutefisk!

Kirby's Angel version 3.0

It's not too often you can say your best decision at a race was taking your pants off, but that was definitely the case for the sisters at our 3rd Annual Frostbite Marathon Relay this year! Yes, Mird and I both took our pants off during today's race!

Question of the day...

No. We're not running today.  Well, at least I'm not running, maybe, Mird is, but I'm not!
